Set in St. Louis Missouri in 1964 this documentary follows a group of children during their tenure at a public school 'The Clinton School'.

The doco has an air of stifled spontaneity and oppression, the students being led by fear of 'being failures' and forced into an institutionalized way of thinking.

Rote memorizing of random facts and information, that adds little value to their lives, and compliance to the system seems to be the way to 'succeed'.

Children daydream, fall asleep on the desk, find themselves in trouble by not getting with the program.
