I've been looking for a McCulloch 650 for a while. I finally found one, for almost nothin'! The saw is in pretty good shape overall, but the chain...the chain...it's really bad. I had no other chain that would fit this bar, so I sharpened what was left of the old chain and crossed my fingers. I really shouldn't be running the saw with such a bad chain, but I just got it running and HAD to get it in the wood. I planned on making several cuts, I stopped after one, too painful. I'll definitely be heading to McLendon Hardware to pick up a new chain as soon as I can. Other than the issues with the chain, the saw ran pretty good.
The 610 and 650 series saws get a bad rap. They are a heavy saw, and very utilitarian looking, but they are also a SOLID vintage chainsaw. Easy to work on too! If you run across either one for a good price, pick it up, you won't regret it.
Thanks for watching!
