There are many ways one can move to the European Union. As a matter of fact, it is easier than what a lot of people think. You don't need to extremely wealthy or have a spouse that is already an EU citizen (although that helps).

The easiest way to immigrate to the European Union independently, in my opinion, is currently the D7 Visa to Portugal.

The D7 visa is aimed at people who have a passive income from abroad. This can be your pension, or it can be any other sort of income that is passive (property rental income, or investments and stock dividends).

The D7 visa is the the easiest in my opinion because you can apply independently, you don't need a company to hire you or any other kind of sponsorship. If you meet the income requirement (and some other less relevant requirements such as having health insurance and a place to stay) you can apply.
