A year ago the Jeffrey Mk3b 750cc Reliant powered sports racer's engine blew up at the Doune Hillclimb. At the time I thought the timing chain had snapped which would have caused extensive damage. As I result I did not investigate the carnage until August this year. Luckily, the damage was not too bad as it was the distributor drive gears and camshaft which were damaged when a small pin came adrift and stopped the distributor from turning. A replacement camshaft was sourced from a 750MC racer and a new distributor was purchased. A shake-down session at the Forrestburn hillclimb did not go to plan as the new Accuspark electronic ignition module failed after one run. A replacement distributor was borrowed from my Hamblin Cadet's Reliant engine and this enabled the Jeffrey to run on the Sunday's hillclimb. The Jeffrey ran very well at the Bo'ness Revival and September Doune Hillclimbs. The engine still sings along at up to 8500 rpm!
