Over the course of the 2023 Festival of Faiths, Tibetan monks from the Drepung Gomang Monastery spent hours meticulously creating an elaborate sand mandala — a vibrant work of art intended to foster positive energy and healing. During the festival’s closing celebration, the monks conducted a ceremony that involved sweeping up the sands and processing to the Ohio River. There, the colorful sands were poured into the river to symbolize the impermanence of all that exists in the world.
