Brian Tyler took the reigns as composer of the F&F series with Tokyo Drift (2006), and composed for every film since then, with the exception of Furious 6 (2013), although the film did use his themes.
As composer, Tyler created a far more traditional style score, with instruments and themes rather than just synthesisers and pop songs, as had been the case prior.
For Fast and Furious (2009), Tyler wrote a beautiful love theme for Letty Ortiz and Dominic Toretto. The piece is one of the most unique and original love themes in film, having a more melancholic tone, and being played on Spanish guitars to reflect the upbringing of the characters.
