Discover how BP's groundbreaking H2Teesside project is set to revolutionize the UK's energy landscape and drive the transition to a low-carbon future.

As one of the largest blue hydrogen production facilities in the UK, H2Teesside will capture and store up to two million tonnes of CO₂ annually, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of Teesside's industries.

With the application for development consent now accepted for examination by the Planning Inspectorate, H2Teesside is a step closer to becoming a reality.

The project will produce 160,000 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen per year, replacing natural gas consumption in sectors such as chemicals, utilities, and manufacturing, and supporting the UK's ambitious net-zero targets.

But H2Teesside is more than just an energy project – it's an investment in the local community. bp is launching a dedicated education and skills program to inspire the next generation of talent and create high-quality jobs in the region. The project is also a key component of the East Coast Cluster, a collaboration working to create the UK's first net-zero industrial cluster by 2040.

As H2Teesside enters the examination phase, it marks an important milestone in Teesside's journey towards a low-carbon future.

Together with its sister project HyGreen Teesside, BP is committed to developing both blue and green hydrogen solutions, potentially delivering over 15% of the UK Government's target of 10GW hydrogen production by 2030.

Join us as we explore the innovative technology, community benefits, and transformative potential of H2Teesside. Discover how this pioneering project is setting an example for the world to follow and paving the way for a cleaner, greener future.
