Historical Roads: Phantom Canyon From Canon City to Victor
Drive with us on our trip up the old Florence & Cripple Creek Narrow Gauge Railroad Route from Canon City to Cripple Creek. This beautiful and historic route is home to old bridges, tunnels and tons of changing scenery. Climb the 3000' rise in altitude with us and see where former gold mining camps, farms and even a school used to exist. We love this drive. It looks different at any given time of day on any given day of the year. Although we didn't see much for wildlife on this trip, Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep are often observed along with fox, coyote, all sorts of birds and lizards. This is also prime Mountain Lion and Bear territory... so be on the lookout if you ever get the opportunity to drive this for yourself.
