Kate Beckinsale has returned to the red carpet following a mysterious illness. The "Love and Friendship" actress made an appearance at the King's Trust Gala in New York City on Thursday night. For the occasion, she wore a white one-shoulder gown that featured cut-outs and a thigh-high slit, designed by designed by Bronx and Banco. The inaugural gala honors King Charles' philanthropic work in the U.S. but while speaking with PEOPLE, Kate noted that it's been a "rough year" for her. "Because my parents have both been unwell and my cat ... it's been a bunch of things. So that's why it's nice to come and see friends and have a little perspective. Everyone's had a bit of a rough year, I think," she explained. The star-studded event comes just one month after the 50-year-old was hospitalized for an undisclosed health issue.
