"Mīrāculum" is inspired by Isaiah 21:4 from the Latin Vulgate. In this verse, Isaiah has just received a vision that Babylon will be destroyed, and in a surprisingly human moment, he describes how this vision haunts him and how he is distraught at this news from God. Translated into English, Isaiah says in this verse, "My heart failed, darkness amazed me: Babylon my beloved is become a wonder to me." Isaiah often seems to be one of the strong, hellfire-preaching prophets of the Old Testament, but he was still a man who loved those around him and was devastated when he could no longer help them. “Mīrāculum” is the Latin word for “wonder” from this verse, but in this instance it is not a kind of wonder full of joy, but rather of grief.
