Back in 1965, when I was 12, I bought my first 8mm film camera. Last year I had my 8mm films from that time transferred to a digital format. I wanted to post some home movies on YouTube that I shot in 1966 when my family spent a week at a resort in Connecticut called Ted Hilton’s. My concern was that many people out of the New England area had never heard of the resort. Instead of posting just the six minutes of video I had, I decided to expand the project into a short, upbeat documentary.

In “Ted Hilton’s to Sunrise: A Personal Reflection,” I do a fun jump back in time to tell the story of the creation of the resort when it began as a camp in 1914, and then evolved over the years to become one of the most popular resort venues in the New England area.
I tell how I first heard of the resort and my family’s visits back in the ‘60s.
I also include historical photos of the resort that have never been seen before, as well as personal pictures from former employees and guests depicting their times at the resort.
This is a fun informative look at the history of the resort from 1914 to the
present.
