Japan's cabinet has approved plans to sell advanced fighter jets it is developing with Britain and Italy to other countries, in a move seen by many as a shift away from its pacifist constitutional stance. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made an amendment to rules around the export of defence equipment last December to allow the export of patriot air-defence missiles to the US. Stephen Nagy, Professor in politics and international studies at Tokyo's International Christian University, tells The World's Beverley O'Connor the move is part of Japan's defence repositioning.
