In this piece, I use an electric violin connected to a program I built in Max8. The program is designed to listen to how loud I am playing (indicated by the red slider), and in accordance with this, play back previous recordings of my self (indicated by the flashing dots). The louder I play, the more recordings the program will play back.
These recordings are made when I press the foot pedal, once to start the recording, and once again to stop it (indicated by the "X" turning on and then off again). It then stores those recordings in a bank that can hold a maximum of 5 recordings at one time. Once this bank is full, the oldest recording will be replaced when a new one is made, thus making it possible to cycle through recordings and create new tonal or rhythmic textures over time. As explained above, the current recordings in this bank are then triggered randomly in accordance to how loud or soft I play.
