DC vs RR Highlights: Sanju Samson Innings In Vain, Delhi Capitals Beat Rajasthan Royals By 20 Runs

Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The victory propelled DC to 5th place on the points table. They overcame Sanju Samson's impressive 86-run innings. RR's chase of 222 runs started strong but ended with a disappointing finish.

Jake Fraser-McGurk launched an all-out attack on Rajasthan Royals bowlers after Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to field in match No.56 of the Indian Premier League at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The DC opener smashed a 19-ball half-century to help DC post 78-2 in the powerplay. However, RR bowlers staged a comeback by getting two wickets in the first six overs. With DC missing David Warner, Axar Patel was promoted up the order after Shai Hope’s unfortunate run-out.
Opening the innings for Warner-less Delhi Capitals, Abishek Porel played a quick-fire knock of 65 while Tristan Stubbs' crucial cameo of 41 off 20 balls powered Pant and Co. to 221-8 in 20 overs. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin emerged as the pick of the bowlers. The RR star bagged three wickets and leaked 24 runs. Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal became the first Indian bowler to complete 350 wickets in the shortest format at Arun Jaitley Stadium Delhi.

Chasing the 222-run target at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, RR lost Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over as Khaleel Ahmed removed the India opener for 4 off 2 balls. Impact Player Rasikh Salam removed on-song Riyan Parag after Axar Patel got the better of Jos Buttler in the powerplay. Leading RR's fightback, skipper Sanju Samson played a quick-fire knock off 86 off 46 balls. Shai Hope's catch of Samson sparked a debate at the RR camp in the 15th over. Following Samson's departure, Rovman Powell was tasked the ace the chase for the Royals. Kuldeep Yadav's game-changing 17th over followed by Mukesh Kumar's final-over heroics scripted the 20-run win for the Capitals.
