Bethesda worlds always represented the ultimate sandbox to me, bearing one of the loosest game designs founded on putting as much interpretation as possible into the player's hands. Growing up with these games, that became a staple for me, something I wanted to see in every title from that point on.

Unfortunately, they've shunted that aspect entirely. Removing the sandbox, releasing shells of 'games' and trying to employ tactics that are very much unlike Bethesda.

It's pretty stupid, but the thing that really ruined Starfield for me was the skill tree. Now it didn't matter how you played, because the game TELLS you how to play. Screw that, this is supposed to be an OPEN world.

Among other things I was greatly disappointed by a LEAP backwards in NPC path-finding/AI, Melee options were completely disregarded, the narrative was hollow at best, and the ratio of animals and plants per planet was hilarious. What was the idea behind generating a bunch of pointless planets? Did they think we were stupid enough to willingly waste our time?

Gun design/gunplay was a huge step up from FO4 though, nice work whoever worked on that.
