I have to compile several days of talking still, its a LOT of footage, but I would appreciate if anyone can read lips to see what she's saying here. She is talking and this is exactly what my family was praying for. She WOKE UP and started talking and I literally prayed all night for this one night. My kids doctor knows about my mom and is managing Abigails issues right now. She prayed over my mom and it was powerful.
My dad kept getting hounded by the case manager for my mom to leave because she wasn't making any improvements. I think any brain injury takes several months to heal, and I believe she woke up because he told her she was going to Hospice. I never used that word with her because we all know what it means, but I made her aware that they were going to take the ventilator off and if she wanted it a different way, she had to wake up and let us know what she wanted. This is why it is SO important to have your final wishes and ALL circumstances that could possibly happen, written down, so your family knows exactly what you want in every way! The last time my mom filled any papers out was in 2012 and she only told us what she wanted after she was already gone.
If you are able to read lips, please leave a timestamp in the comments so that I can confirm for myself your best guess at what she is saying. I can kind of guess a few things. I am able to read lips for the most part, but some people I cannot, and she's not wearing teeth so it makes it a little harder for me to read. I really appreciate it.
I know these videos are hard to watch. They are also hard to edit. I did have a conversation with my entire family about sharing these videos and they are all okay with it. I would not show my mother if I thought it was distasteful and there was no reason for it. She is a beautiful and strong woman. This experience for her is unfair, but seeing the sheer will and desire to live is incredible. She is living for her kids and grandkids and has a lot more she wants to do and finish. She is not done. I continue to have conversations with my family about their thoughts, her condition, and the possibility for a meaningful recovery. We do live in reality, but you only get ONE life and once its gone, its gone. All of that is re-evaluated at least once a week, but in actuality, it's a daily discussion, even with my extended family. We dont have much family left now, so I do appreciate having their input in helping us make decisions. We are all on the same page.
