In this episode I drive to East Hampton, Connecticut to purchase a cheap 2007 328i BMW that was found on Craigslist. I stop by Wayne Carini's Chasing Classic Cars workshop in Portland after spotting an Alpina E30 sitting out front. Upon arriving to see the 328i, I met Patrick the seller and his neighbor Jeff, two great guys and fellow car enthusiasts.

The 328i revealed many more problems and various error codes across modules in the car once I scanned with my Creator C310 scan tool. Thankful that I brought the BMW specific scan tool with me to get a clear picture of the potential future costs and issues that need to be addressed with this high mileage ride. The car is currently at an incredible 269,145 miles which it has reached in just 12 years. That's over 22,000 miles per year when the average driver sees about 12,000 per year.

Before purchasing the car I asked the seller for the VIN number so I could check the history and also decode the vin using an online BMW vin decoder. This provides me with important details such as the options the car was ordered with from the factory back in 2007. Despite seeing any photos of the interior of the car in the listing, I was able to determine this was a sport package car with the following options: sport seats, sport steering wheel, sport suspension, heated seats, through-loading system (fold-down rear seats), adaptive headlights, xenon lights, ski-pass and more.

The car was listed for $1500 but the seller noted it was negotiable. Once I realized the number of stored codes in the various modules across the car, I had second thoughts about purchasing the car. But I knew resolving the issues to make videos for this channel would be worth it... so I negotiated down to $1100. I couldn't resist buying a barrique red E90 for this price, despite the crazy high mileage. Is this the next 1,000,000 mile Lexus a la Matt Farah? Or will I send it down the road sooner than that? We will see.
