The first building within ChNPP site appeared in the early 1970s. The last one was built in 2021. Notwithstanding the difference of more than 50 years, all these buildings have been transferred to the so-called decommissioning information support system — a detailed 3D digital model of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

The information support system contains not just the building walls and roofs. It also includes their indoor premises, exact digital copies of important equipment and mechanisms, and documentation that registers all changes made within the units.

So, basically the 3D model of ChNPP, we are talking about, is a full-fledged digital twin of the power plant, which reflects its current state “one-to-one”.
