During March, 1944 the Joint Chiefs of staff submitted a plan to the target intelligence committee to use bombers to drop incendiaries on Germany’s Black Forest. The Black forest is located in southern Germany and cover 1,800 square miles. The plan was rejected based on lack of military significance, was considered a German Morale target, and the post war consequences of destruction of the forest.
