Continuing from Part 1 of this talk, Ronaan shares his experiences over the years working at Mahindra.

Currently Deputy General Manager at the organization, Ronaan shares how the leadership at Mahindra has been tolerant of his bluntness in many cases, making it easier for an oddball like him to do his best.

Speaking about being a better manager, Ronaan shares how one needs to learn certain skills from their younger days, including empathy. He shares how caring about people, putting oneself in others' shoes to understand their perspective, etc., are good ways to cultivate empathy.

Sincerity towards people reflects one's ability to understand and help others grow. Ronaan shares how as one becomes a leader in any organisation, something that b-school prepares you for, one has to wear different hats.
A finance major who's a manager or a leader in his company may also have to oversee sales, marketing, HR or other functions.

Ronaan shares how building empathy can help one step away from micromanagement.

Answering questions from the audience on various b-school related topics, Ronaan shares how one can make the most of their b-school experience by participating in various classes, making friends, and more.

Most notedly, he talks about how there will be students who are disappointed as they may not get placed in the first 3 days of placements. Ronaan talks about how one needs to open up if feeling depressed, sharing his own experiences.

He also shares how students can help their peers by looking in on them, especially if they appear down or isolated. Filled with thoughts on how to go through b-school, life and career, this is a must watch.

Here are some highlights:
If you find someone who’s locked in their rooms, overtly withdrawn at b-school, find out if they are fine!
Even if you are a part of the TAS and GMC programs, you’ll need to figure out what eventual career pathway to take.
You are in the top quartile of earnings for sure already, (as MBA students from tier I b-schools)
The great thing that an IIM is going to do is to peg exactly where you are.
Figure out how much is enough for you at every point in life; compare what you actually need to your wants and you’ll find you do not need that much to live a happy, fulfilled life!
