Mary Whipple came to the University of Minnesota School of Nursing’s PhD program on a mission to improve the lives of older adults with chronic health conditions. She had seen firsthand the drastic effect a fall had on her grandmother, who had diabetes and was forced to live in a nursing home after the incident.
