Loaded Coke Train Crosses Giant Railroad Trestle Over The River! Mixed Freight Trains & Local Railroad Switching Freight Trains In Chillicothe, Ohio On The Norfolk Southern Heartland Corridor. This is a great Railfan hotspot that a bike trail leads to and goes under the big railroad bridge over the Scioto River. One railroad track was abandoned years ago. We got some fast trains with all kinds of freight coming from both directions. This line runs between Chicago and Norfolk, Virginia and services Columbus, Ohio. This route was improved for double stacks in 2010 after lowering floors in tunnels and notching the corners in some tunnels. Other improvements were made also starting in 2007. This is a very busy line with a train about every hour or so. I rode up here with @1960gambit and we parked at Strawser Park and walked a short distance on the bike trail to get to the railroad bridge. I could not find a date on it. Does anyone know anything about it? Leave a comment below. The best frequencies here are 161.190 and 452.9375 and use 160.230 if you want to listen to the nearby CSX line.
