Did you know that in the 1800s, a medical school in Chennai opened its doors to women before even Britain allowed women to become doctors? The Madras Medical College has been the alma mater of many trailblazing women. Mary Scharlieb, one of the first to graduate from the college, became the first woman M.D. from London University, and her legacy still lives on in Chennai.
