The reader wanted to know exactly how L-Brackets work. Well, here you have it. L-Brackets are one of my favorite tripod accessories because they enable you to mount your camera directly above your tripod in both landscape (horizontal) and portrait (vertical) orientation.

By using an L-Bracket, your camera stays centered over the tripod, you get full range of motion, and the eyepiece height stays more or less the same. That means your camera is more stable, it's easier to frame subjects, and you don't have to change your tripod height when switching orientations.
