In today's video we take a look at a 1999 Ford F-150 Pickup truck with a V6 4.2l engine. The customer complaint is that the truck will randomly not start. The engine cranks and turns over but it will not fire up and run. Upon initial inspection, I found that during the time that the vehicle wouldn't start, the odometer on the instrument cluster did not read any numbers. Only dashes. Also, the anti-theft or security light would blink rapidly. This was something I was familiar with. Usually this means that we have a communication problem with the engine computer or PCM. I suspect a bad relay, a faulty diode or maybe even a bad ground. The only problem is, I can not duplicate or recreate the concern. This makes diagnosing the fault very difficult.
