In this episode, we return to late 2018. That's when "the yellow vests" organized a massive protest in France for the first time. Boxer Jérôme Fouache from Amiens, France has always had to work hard alongside his boxing career. He used to think that you shouldn't complain but fight. But he thinks differently about that now.
Jérôme Fouache is a local celebrity in Amiens. The residents of the northern French city call him the worker in the boxing ring. He is the founder of a boxing school for young people. Fouache dedicated himself to a career in the boxing ring, but it never took off. He always had to work on the side.
Jerome agrees with the yellow shirts on everything. But he will not participate. It is too important for him to earn a living for his family. The fighting spirit is gone. Yes, France is an Eldorado according to him. But only for the rich.
This is an episode of 'In Europe, history caught in the act' with Geert Mak by Stefanie de Brouwer and Roel van Broekhoven.
