With bricks and mortar shops shut, Amazon's business has been booming.

Our Business Unit calculates each adult in UK has been spending on average of a pound a day at Amazon. Not surprisingly, over the pandemic, it has hired extra staff to cope.

But we have discovered, in a joint investigation with the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and the Mirror newspaper, that some of the new jobs aren't what they seem.

Amazon insists it doesn't use zero hours contracts, but temporary workers have told us that is what their jobs, secured through two recruitment agencies, amount to.
