Characteristic design elements such as the powerfully drawn front hood and the striking rear section with the typical three-piece taillights identify the Mach-E as a worthy new member of the Mustang family. Like the "conventional" Mustang Mach-E versions, the Mach-E GT is based on a vehicle architecture that Ford "Team Edison" has developed from scratch for purely electric automobiles.

"The Mustang Mach-E GT impressively demonstrates how electric powertrains can be optimized for driving pleasure," explains Geert van Noyen, head of vehicle dynamics at Ford Europe. "The result is a sophisticated five-seat crossover SUV with supercar acceleration and zero emissions - a combination of unique attributes I could only dream of when I started as an engineer 30 years ago."

The Mustang Mach-E GT comes standard with all-wheel drive and a larger battery (“extended range”). The "Extended Range" battery has a usable capacity of 88 kilowatt hours (kWh) - this corresponds to a gross capacity of 98.7 kWh - and gives the driver complete confidence with a range of up to 500 kilometers in the combined WLTP cycle a radius of action suitable for everyday use.

The Mustang Mach-E GT is the brand's most powerful electric production model to date. Two oil-cooled permanent magnet synchronous motors (AC) develop a combined output of 358 kW (487 hp)* and an impressive maximum torque of 860 Nm (overboost) - almost 15 percent more than the exclusive high-performance Ford GT sports car.

The electric motor on the rear axle already reaches its maximum torque after a response time of just 0.5 seconds. Irrespective of this, the electric motor on the front axle contributes additional power, torque and traction. The interaction of the two electric motors ensures impressive acceleration from a standing start and improved cornering behavior.

Even the “conventional” Mustang Mach-E offers three driving modes, which the driver selects via the central display: “Tame” (“Whisper”), “Active” (“Active”) and “Temperamental” (“Untamed”). Depending on which driving mode is set, the characteristic curves of the steering and the accelerator pedal, the damping and the simulated shifting processes as well as the "engine sound" artificially generated in the interior are adjusted accordingly.

The Mach-E GT powertrain is calibrated so that, depending on the driving mode, a steadily increasing proportion of the torque is sent to the rear wheels - so that the handling and driving dynamics gradually change from a front-wheel drive SUV (driving mode: "Tame") to a dynamic one , rear-wheel drive sports coupé (driving mode: "spirited") changed.

In concrete terms: in the “Tempered Plus” driving mode, the electronics reduce the activation threshold of the electronic safety and stability control (ESP) and the traction control to give the driver more room for manoeuvre. In combination with the correspondingly modified torque distribution - which relies on a constant flow of power even with permanently high power demand - and simulated downshifts, this increases driving pleasure enormously. In addition, the artificially generated sound of the drive train is amplified so that it can also be heard when stationary.
