Hey @central_casting and @sagaftra how about a shoutout to your beloved stand-ins? An overlooked department and an essential element to the making of film and television. We are used to set up every single shot, we are photo doubles, semi stunt performers and bring performances out of actors off camera. The off camera dialogue rate stays the same $25 for a single line or for 3 pages of dialogue. We stand up for many hours, we sit, we crawl, we dance, we run, we act, we rehearse, we go fast, we go slow, we hold, we get wet, we sweat, we drive hero cars, we simulate sex and violence, we use apple boxes a lot, we are human props and we get yelled at more than necessary. We are rarely credited for our work, we will randomly be thrown in with the background actors for no extra money and are underpaid for a lot of extra things demanded of us on set. For some reason we are the only department who will go by a first name only on a call-sheet and will never officially be made part of the crew of the show we’re on. My name is Stef Nico and have been standing in for almost 20 years, I’m great at my job and have been directly requested by actors and productions to join in on projects many times. I take a lot of pride in what I do and wish we could be recognized one day as a valuable asset to film making, not only by productions but also our union as well as agencies representing us. 🎥🧍🎬
