I hope everyone is having an amazing start to the week. I've been hoping to test this 2022 Ram 2500 power wagon's max towing capacity for a while. now that winter has finally let up I figured it was time to do it. So I drove up to Muskoka to tow My buddies tractor. we calculated that the load would weight around 10,000lbs which would be perfect.

After getting the trailer out of the mud from sitting all winter we loaded up the tractor and right away the power wagon start to squat pretty heavily. we tied up the tractor and hit the road.

Honestly this truck did very well. the load felt heavy but the truck felt very much in control and I felt very comfortable behind the wheel which is most important. we ran the truck up some hills and made sure the temperatures were all within spec. I would have no issues pulling this load for long distances.

However, when we got back I was suspicious of how much the tractor actually weighed. Because I had previously towing 8,200 lbs. and it felt easy. this load felt way heavier then an extra 1,600 lbs. I remember seeing how bloated the tires were on the trailer and those were e-rated tires meaning they had strong side walls. the final nail in the coffin was that the hitch was slightly bent.

so after doing some research I found that the tractor was most likely ballasted meaning instead of the 4500 lbs we thought it weight it could of weight around 9,200 lbs plus the loader of 1,800 lbs bringing the total potentially to 11,000lbs.

meaning the final load could of been 14,500 lbs of weight. If that were true it is impressive how well the power wagon performed!
