Kapalua is nothing like Lahaina was or Ka'anapali is. Just a little further north, Kapalua is a sculptured area that doesn't carry the crowds of other areas. It's not just golf courses, it has attractive beach coves, pineapple fields, high class restaurants and rentals. And also, the Ritz Carlton.

I didn't cover it in the video but the Kapalua area is historical for being a plantation area. The fields may remind you of that. Though the area is greatly changed, the locals have a respect for their history of immigrants and the pineapple fields.

It doesn't feel like an old town to me, but the open spaces and the quiet neighborhoods are a pleasant experience. Then travel a little further north of there to see some rugged bays. (There are a few photos included in this video to give you an idea of there.)

The last time we went to Maui, we spent a majority of our time up in the Kapalua and Napili area. It was relaxing and stimulating. So if you stay in the Ka'anapali area, though Lahaina is in repairs, visit the area right above: Kapalua.
