Ford has unveiled the new 2023 Ranger for the global markets however it’s going to be the same design for the US as well with only some minor cosmetic changes.

What I want to do in this video is to go over some of the spec and tech of the new Ranger, what trim levels we have to look forward to here in the US.

We're also of course going to compare it to the old Ranger from the front, side and rear - see what’s different and if it's actually an improvement? I’ll share my thoughts on that as well.

So the powertrain isn’t new or exciting since Ford has decided to continue to use the turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque in the current truck and it's paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A six-speed manual is available on the global version, but it's unlikely to be available in the States.

However, a Ranger Raptor model should be available in the U.S. hopefully by the end of 2023 and it's expected to use a modified version of the twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6 found in the Bronco.

The new Ranger gets a little bigger all around. The wheelbase has increased by 2.0 inches and so does the track. These changes combined should improve the ride quality even though it will use a similar suspension setup as the current Ranger however this time the rear dampers are positioned outside of the frame rails.

Because of the similar mechanical setup as the current truck, you can expect it to offer a similar 7500-pound towing capacity as the current truck.

On the inside is where the major changes happen. This is where the old Ranger really needed an update. You have a 10.1-inch touchscreen as standard, with an optional 12.0-inch unit.
The interior now looks and most likely feels like it belongs in this decade. Pretty similar graphics as those in the new F-150.

The 2023 Ford Ranger for the global market will go into production next year and be built in Thailand and South Africa. No info yet as to when it will go on sale here in the US but it will be as a 2023 model.
