A brief(ish) introduction to the GED Math test: what's on it? What's not on it? How should you study? Includes one typical GED-style question at the end.

Here are the subtopics mentioned in the video:
-BASIC MATH-
* Whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
* Squares, square roots, cubes, and cube roots of numbers
* Exponents!
* "Undefined" expressions (i.e., denominators are 0)
* Distance between numbers on a number line using absolute value
* Unit rates (e.g. miles per hour, dollars per pound)
* Ratios, proportions, and percents
* Least common multiple, greatest common factor
-GEOMETRY-
* Area & perimeter of two-dimensional shapes
* Side lengths of triangles, rectangles, etc (when given the area or perimeter)
* Area & circumference of a circle
* Bar graphs, circle graphs, dot plots, histograms, etc.
* Volume and surface area of three dimensional shapes (find missing side lengths.)
* Mean, median, mode, and range (find a missing value when given an average)
* Probability
-BASIC ALGEBRA-
* Translate algebraic expressions to English, and vice versa
* Linear equations (e.g., y = 2x-1); word problems therewith
* Inequalities (e.g., 3 is greater than 2x-1); word problems therewith
* Quadratic equations
* Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and factor polynomials (e.g. simplify (x - 7)(x + 1); factor 2x² - 5x - 3)
-GRAPHS & FUNCTIONS-
* Graph linear equations
* Slope of a line (from a graph, equation, or table)
* Slope-intercept formula (y = mx + b)
* Evaluating a function (when x = 6, what’s y?)
* Translate functions between tables, graphs, descriptions, equations
* Recognize if a function’s really a function (e.g., on a table or graph, if there are 2 values for x, it’s not)
