We cycle out of Quorn with spectacular early morning light flooding in from the east. The trail and backroads climb and fall across rolling hills through some of South Australia’s most productive farmlands – wheat and sheep are everywhere. The landscape is subtle and beautiful. Old ruins are a memory of the area’s tragic past and the struggles of early settlers. It is a landscape photographer’s dream. But I also discover a gentle soundscape – a harmony of small towns, farming, roadside gums full of birds and pockets of resilient nature where we find places to camp at the end of the days ride.
