Welcome to La Paz Bolivia - it's our first time in Bolivia and we had really high hopes for La Paz. Has it lived up to the hype in La Paz? Honestly we're not sure as of right now.

To find out as much info on the city as we could, and to get around to all the best spots, we booked a walking tour which was insanely cheap! It also meant we could go up the cable car without needing to work out stops, navigating Spanish or needing to plan too much. Turns out Bolivia has a bit of a dark past, there's some deep spiritual connections in La Paz, safety was a little bit of a concern and we learnt some crazy facts about the city. From the Witches Markets to El Alto, around every turn was something shocking, interesting, and fascinating. For everything beautiful we got to see, there was something broken (figuratively and literally) — we kind of feel like this is the most contrasted we've ever felt about a city.
