In 2022, indigenous women launched the Katahirine network, which includes 60 filmmakers, producers and screenwriters from almost every biome in the country.
By transferring indigenous audiovisual protagonism into the hands of women, the network wants to use cameras as a tool for fighting for territory and preserving the memory of indigenous peoples.
As well as supporting new productions, the Katahirine Network organizes monthly meetings to screen films and exchange experiences.
