Ever since I was a kid, finding a box turtle in the wild has always been a special thing. Far too often I see turtles smashed in the road. Whenever I can do so safely I’ll do what I can to keep a box turtle for distraction.


I do my best not to hit anything in the road, whether it’s a rock, pit hole or anything else. I’m not advocating putting yourself or anyone else in danger by swerving dangerously to avoid objects. Pay attention, drive safely, stay safe and save the turtles.
