I had a few large pieces of scrap wood around my shop including two reclaimed pieces of cedar from a 100 year old house tear down. It would have been a shame to see them burned or thrown out completely. I took two of the stair treads as part of my 3 pieces, and for the third I selected a rectangular piece of Port Orford Cedar I had in my wood shop

I decided to give myself some guidelines I had to follow for this design and build project. I needed to build this reclaimed wood TV stand out of 3 and only 3 pieces of wood. Giving myself a design challenge for this TV stand was a good way to make myself think outside of the box and create something original.

Through playing with geometry of the pieces I decided on a simple and subtle corner TV stand. This TV stand wraps around the corner of my living room which seems to open the room up instead of having a diagonal TV stand in the corner. Not only did it create room in my living room but it also cleared space in my woodworking shop for other woodworking projects and plans.
