Prior to its merger with Kansas City Southern, Canadian Pacific had unveiled some locomotives painted in commemorative and honorary schemes ranging from branches of the military to a throwback to its 'Royal Canadian Pacific' scheme.

April 9, 2022: CP train 234 is led by ES44AC 8781 on the NS Detroit District in Adrian, MI. This unit was painted in a commemorative orange paint scheme recognizing container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, a prominent customer in the railroad's intermodal service, specifically based out of the Port of St. John in New Brunswick. The trailing unit, CP 7015, is painted in the 'Maroon & Grey' scheme reminiscent of the 'Royal Canadian Pacific' scheme.

April 9, 2023: One year later, CP train 231 is led by ES44AC 8757 also on the NS Detroit District, but in the village of Cone, MI. The 8757 was painted in a commemorative orange paint scheme to celebrate Canada's first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in 2021. The unit bears the motto 'Every Child Matters' which honors those victims of the Indian Residential Schools.
