VN24 - 08.02.2022 - Lunen / Germany - (from the police report) A 35-year-old man drove with a Mercedes Sprinter in the night to Tuesday (8.2.2022) at 3:05 o'clock on the federal highway B236n in northern direction. At the end of the highway-like federal highway, he should have turned left or right at a T-junction. Instead, he drove beyond the intersection and crashed with the cargo van into a construction pit about three meters deep. With the nose in front, the van was stuck in the pit on a downhill slope. The slightly injured driver was able to leave the van, but was unable to get out of the pit on his own. The rescue service later transported the driver to a hospital, where it was taken a blood sample. A breath alcohol test confirmed the suspicion that the 35-year-old was driving the van under the influence of alcohol.
The driver initially told police that he did not have a driver's license. Then it was suddenly three driving licenses, which he called his own. However, he had none of them with him. The man could leave the hospital after outpatient treatment.
During the night, the recovery of the van was apparently not possible. Towards afternoon, two tow trucks with cranes arrived at the scene. The recovery turned out to be difficult, but was mastered by the Dortmund towing company in an artful operation. In an action lasting more than two hours, the transporter was recovered.
