Actor Jack O'Connell is the only British male nominee for the BAFTA Rising Star award.

Having made his name as James Cook in Skins, O'Connell has since gone on to win critical acclaim for his performances in '71 and his lead role in war film Unbroken, directed by Angelina Jolie.

He said he was "flattered" to be considered for the award, having followed the work of previous winners closely.

The winner of the BAFTA award is decided by public vote - and O'Connell urged people to vote.

The 24-year-old, from Derby, would become the only non-Londoner to pick up the award if he wins.
