As Danny Sullivan went to pass racing-legend Mario Andretti for the lead on lap 120, Sullivan's car went below the white line and subsequently spun coming out of the turn. Sullivan managed to save the car with no damage and go on to pass Andretti for the lead and ultimately win the race.

The 1985 Indianapolis 500 became known as the "Spin and Win" and is considered as one of the Indianapolis 500's most famous racing moments.
