Picket Wire Canyonlands is part of the Comanche National Grasslands in southeast Colorado. It's a 13 mile out-and-back hike down into the canyon and to the dinosaur tracksite.

Hiking through the canyon was like stepping back through time:

1. There are almost 2,000 dinosaur tracks along the Purgatoire River. It's the largest dinosaur tracksite in North America. The tracks are from various specious of dinosaurs from the Jurassic period, 150 million years ago. I sat here by myself amongst these ancient footprints.

2. Native American rock art (petroglyphs) ranging from 375 to 4,500 years old.

3. The Dolores Mission and Cemetery built in the 1800's by early Mexican settlers in this region.
