David Lynch is easy to define; he's an American filmmaker. Lynch-ian, on the other hand, as a style or affect, is not. Film fans are eager to describe any new movie or show as being "lynchian," but less eager to define what those three little letters actually mean. Perhaps Lynch's artistic approach is similar to an ancient literary genre, one we are all relatively familiar with: Apocalyptic Literature.
