Well, essentially because by deceiving their β€˜host-king’; Agorkoli and getting his relative k!lled, they started a battle, one that saw them suffer for a long time.

Agorkoli was born in 1670 and he died in 1720. Torgbui Agorkoli was the mythical ruler of Notsie, a town in modern Togo.
During his rule, the Ewe peoples in what are now Ghana and Togo escaped from Notsie to their present lands.
