Australia has become the "laughing stock of the world" after the extraordinary bungle over Novak Djokovic's visa, says Sky News host Chris Smith.

Mr Smith chastised the roles Tennis Australia, the Home Affairs department and federal health played in the bungle which "embarrassed this country no end".

"Their role in this requires deep scrutiny," Mr Smith said.

"They've managed to bungle a case, that was destined to cause friction from the start – they couldn't have been given more notice."
