“Sustainable energy cars can be the fastest cars, the safest cars, the most kick-ass cars in every way. That’s why we did the Plaid.”
Elon Musk, June 10th 2021

At WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway on Saturday, June 12th we had a surprise debut of our 2021 Pikes Peak Plaid race car. The purpose of the event was to give our legendary racing driver @randypobstofficial his first taste of Plaid's Tesla alien technology.

How does this production-based electric-powered sedan race car stack up against the world's best singular purpose-built ICE track cars?

Well, the McLaren P1 owner described the UP Tesla Plaid passing him as if he was standing still. Seeing is believing and so we've shared this video to witness the uncompromising performance of Tesla technology in a racing environment vs the world's best hypercars. In this video, you will see a Porsche 991 GT3 RS, a McLaren Senna and McLaren P1 get rapidly left behind in the Plaid's electron trail.

To understand Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and our mission we are proud to share our documentary here from our run in 2020:
   • HIGH VOLTAGE | UNPLUGGED AT PIKES PEA...

Our objectives for the Hypercar Invitational event were not to attempt any lap records but rather to learn the new platform, to dial in our numerous new prototype racing parts we've developed and to prepare for a safe and fast race up the mountain at Pikes Peak.

Thank you to Tesla for producing such an incredible vehicle for us to race. Thanks as well to our sponsors: Bilstein, Yokohama, Braille Battery, and to our superhuman team at Unplugged Performance (both internal and extended family).

Event: Hypercar Invitational 3 @ Laguna Seca (the best event in the world to debut a car)
