👋 In todays video it's time to tackle this HUGE project for the V8 R8! Having to replace the AC compressor and the components that go along with it! This is honestly a pretty big project and one that I took some time to research and really see if it was something that I could tackle! After going to a few shops in my area and getting quotes on parts and labor, I just couldn't bear spending that much money for AC and with the projects we have done in the past, I figured this was something that if I felt comfortable enough, could attempt it and go from there! With about 22 hours into the job, I knocked it out on jack stands and in the garage! Audi and other shops even quote with having to pull the engine in order to do this job, which I definitely didn't want to do since there was away around that. I have around $900 into this with parts and materials needed along with the three days it took! For less than 1/6th the price, I was able to complete this project and while it was hard at times with the tight space, I just kept moving forward and so glad I was able to do this! Especially on a car like this, it can be intimidating for sure, but as long as you research and know what to expect, it can be done!
If you own an R8 and decide to do this, make sure you drain oil and coolant FIRST! I didn't realize that part, so it was a little more messy than it had to be, but aside from that, everything is just one bolt at a time!
