Protests continue to take place outside the Racket Hall Hotel in Roscrea, Co Tipperary after the hotel was selected to house 160 international protection applications.

Up to 17 asylum seekers, understood to be women and children, were moved into Racket Hall Hotel this week.

Protestors clashed with Gardai as the asylum seekers were brought into the hotel, with one arrest made.

Protestors say they plan to continue opposing the housing of the international protection applicants in Roscrea, and that the asylum seekers housed in the hotel should be moved to another town.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says he understands the frustrations of the residents of Roscrea, and said that ministers will look at how they can help support the 10 districts in Ireland that have housed the highest proportion of Ukrainian refugees and international protection applicants.
