Chamath Palihapitiya, a 1999 University of Waterloo electrical engineering graduate and Canadian-American venture capitalist, prepared this special message for the Waterloo Engineering class of 2020.

Chamath is the founder and CEO of Social Capital, a Silicon Valley company that specializes in technology startups, providing seed funding, venture capital and private equity. He is also a minority stakeholder and board member of the Golden State Warriors. Chamath was an early senior executive at Facebook, joining the company in 2007 and leaving in 2011.
